In Medicine we offer opportunities for both research and taught degree level study. We have strong links with the NHS, both in teaching hospitals and the local community, Public Health England and public health leads in Local Authorities in the South East. Our postgraduate programmes are taught mainly at Southampton General Hospital.

Collaboration

During your time here as a postgraduate research student, you will have the support of a 250-strong network of students who are undertaking research degrees across the full range of research interests within the Faculty. Cross-disciplinary and collaborative projects are also encouraged amongst both postgraduate research and postgraduate taught degree students, and dissertation supervisors come from other university disciplines, the NHS or from external institutions. We form one core element of a faculty graduate school that provides world-class expertise in biomedical, biological and health sciences.

We work closely with University Hospital Southampton (UHS), a partnership that recently won two new biomedical research units funded by the Government's National Institute for Health to undertake translational clinical research in the priority areas of respiratory disease and nutrition.
