Apply for halls for 2017/18

New Students

Applications for new students for 2017/18 are open.

If you are a new student coming to study at the University in September 2017 you can apply using the apply button. Details of how to apply can be found below.

Current Students

We cannot guarantee places to our current students. If you are a current students who would like to stay in halls for the next academic year you can still apply and we will do our best to offer you a place in halls.

In addition to applying for a standard room, current students can apply:

·         as groups with rooms allocated near each other

·         for quiet areas of the halls

You will find these options on the application form.

How to apply for a hall

Follow the steps below to make your application for accommodation.

Step 1: Make your choice

Before you apply for halls, select your choices of halls.

Step 2: Complete the application form

Once you have made your choice of halls the next step is complete the application form.

What you need to apply

You will need the following to complete the application form:

  • Your Student ID number for your application. This will have been supplied to you by your faculty when you were made your offer of study.
  • An email address that you have access to. Email addresses that are likely to expire or terminated, for example school or college email addresses, are not suitable.
  • Your current personal details, including a current address.
  • The dates that you wish to apply for (if you are a pre-sessional or visiting student, or if you wish to extend your halls contract, you may need to apply for the current academic year).

If you are applying on behalf of someone else

If you wish to apply on the behalf of a student we wish need written confirmation of their permission for you to do this from the student. They must email this consent to and include the contact details (name and email address) of their delegate.

To apply on the behalf of someone else you will need their student ID number, their date of birth and an email that you have regular access to.

Current students

Continuing students who want to apply to stay in halls for the next academic year will need their login ID and password that you used when you registered for the previous year. If you have not previously lived in halls you will need to register.

Step 3: Check your application status

Once you've submitted the form you will get an email from us to confirm your application.

If you are a new student we will be in touch again around the offer period, normally around mid-August to early September. When the conditions of your offer of study are met you will need to log in to your account and check the status of your application.

Step 4: Accept your offer

If you receive an offer of accommodation you must accept within the deadline as stated on your offer. We recommend checking the status of your application regularly. You will be required to register card information and create a payment plan to accept your offer. You will potentially need to make a pre-payment depending on your student status.

Accommodation for visiting staff members and academics

Visiting staff and postgraduate researchers who do not have 8-digit student IDs are welcome to apply for a place in student halls using the link below. We have a limited amount of accommodation that is suitable for staff, and any offer made will be the best available for the dates and accommodation type selected. A prepayment of 10% will be required to secure the booking.

If you are a student and do not yet have your student ID number, contact your faculty.
